TRAVELLING TO CHINA

We are still travelling around the world and our plane has arrived in China. As a teacher, we can introduce the topic with a question such as if they know something about China, about its culture, food, sports, etc.

TASK 1: VISITING THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

In this task the students will practice listening skills. It is an activity from kids of  4 - 6 grade of primary. The first thing that they are going to visit in china, is the Great Wall. You can play a video like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae6f7_AYHac .  During the listening, the students have to take notes about the great wall of China because later they will have to make a guide tour talking about the history of it.

TASK 2/3: COOKING A RECIPE

Other dynamic activity that you can do with your class is to cook a real Chinese recipe. First of all, they have to read the recipe aloud in the class and solve all the doubts that the students could have. In the second part of the session, we have to divide the class in groups and cook the recipe. They will speak to each other, giving the instructions of the recipe.

During this task the students will practice reading and speaking skills. It is an activity for kids from 3 - 6 grade de primary.

TASK 4: WRITE YOUR OWN RECIPE 

Tell the students that now they are going to write a recipe that they usually do with their parents. The teacher can also give them an example of one of your recipes, such as "Tortos" or "Cachopo" (typical food of Asturias). And they can explain it in another session.

During this task the students will practice writing skills. It is an activity for kids from 4 - 6 grade de primary.

TRAVELLING TO NEW YORK

Our next trip is New York, the city that never sleeps. To introduce these activities, the teacher can start asking the students if they know something about New York or if they have been there. TASK 1: TOURIST GUIDE The first thing that we are going to do in New York, is to take a bus tour around the whole city. We can do an interactive reading with tablets or chromebooks. At the beginning, they can reading together (by turns) the information of New York city and then the students will have to complete some exercises of fill in the gaps or answer questions to see if they have understood the tour. TRAVELLING TO AFRICA

During these trips with our students, the teacher can also practices or reviews other vocabulary. Now, we are travelling to Africa to learn about animals. TASK 1: GOING ON A SAFARI Tell your students that they are going to go on a safari to see different animals and how they live. A video that you can use for this listening is:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qYObMDJvLY .
